Since a few years we stay with our guests in the Jaichy Yurt camp, near Bokonbaevo. It is a lovely peaceful place to be. With view on high mountains, and in the middle of a lot of beautiful agricultural landscape.
All our guests love this place. Kids, adults, … It has this deep good vibe. As if this all wouldn’t be enough.
The Jaichy camp lays close to the Baiboosun nature reserve…
By Anne | MARCH 2023
The reserve is located in the Issyk-Kul region, with an area of 14 thousand hectares and with mountain peaks reaching 4763 metres altitude. The public nature reserve is a refuge for many endangered species included in the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan and the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
Being one of the first initiatives in the country to create nature reserves run by the community, it plays an important role in setting the standards for nature reserve conservation in the region, and specifically, snow leopard conservation in Central Asia.
Among many other animals, it is the home of the one and only famous Kyrgyz cat, the snow leopard.
The family that is living and managing the Jaichy yurt camp are also the active helpers of the Baiboosun park. With almost no money they run the park as good as they can. Trying to keep poachers and lifestock out of the reserve.
The mission is to protect endangered species and ensure their preservation for the future generations. We hope to ease the conflict between humans and wildlife; promoting coexistence and contributing towards the maintenance of a healthy ecosystem.
They work by combining ecologically responsible activities with focused conservation efforts, to ensure the preservation of our local habitats while inspiring others to share our passion for nature and wildlife.
We deeply look up to this family and therefor I highly recommend visiting this place, making donations and spreading the word…
Note: on all of our Kyrgyz trips we pass by this magnificent and interesting place.
